How Borat damaged Kazakhstan's image…

Kazakhstan director shoots Borat sequel

In 2006 Borat  aka Sach Baron Cohen, released his largely popular film “Borat” about an unsophisticated journalist who travels to the USA chasing model and actress Pamela Anderson.

It caused outrage in Kazakhstan and was banned from being shown there; subsequently Cohen was threatened with legal action!

Now, Kazakhstani film director Erkin Rakishev is shooting a sequel to Borat’s adventure designed to improve his country’s image – “My Brother, Borat,”  planned for release early 2011.

Let’s wait and see how successful he will be in doing this, as without the backup of a Hollywood publicity machine, the odds of success are quite limited.

Enjoy your New Year!
