The Class of 2015 – Taking Creativity to the World

Last week I had the honour to present to a full room our Brand & ME! Personal Branding workshop. The audience was the final year advertising students of the award winning School of Media & Communications Department at RMIT in Melbourne (pictured above with myself front second from the right).

This uber group of young people led by their chief lecturer Peter Sorenson are about to enter the real world of business and the hyper competitive field of advertising and their interest in knowing what works in the workplace sparked an engaging conversation.

We had much discussion on the relevance and importance of personal branding for their job interviews including their visual brand , presentation and communication and why it’s essential to constantly be aware of what’s really required (the unwritten rules) to grow their careers so that they can maximise their possibilities.

The feedback received was that we gave them much to think about and make new choices on what to action and the essential insights into the key influences in building their career that will make the sustainable difference in the long-term.

My take on this group of intelligent young people was that there is great hope for the future of this country and there is nothing more powerful once young people are given the right tools to lead. Magic happens when creativity is unleashed and innovative concepts are brought to life to influence change for the better.
